Shungite • Grounding • Protection • Cleansing
Shungite is a carbon-rich rock from Karelia — dull black for most tumbles, mirror-bright when it is elite/noble. Root. Used as a sponge and a ground. People park it by machines, pocket it in loud rooms, set it in water in the old folk habit of “cleaning” a carafe. Treat the water story as practice, not a lab claim.
It is not black tourmaline (striated ward). It is not obsidian (volcanic glass mirror). It is carbon that takes a charge and goes quiet.
It dusts and it can mark pale shelves. Wipe it. Rinse regular shungite if you use it with water; dry it. Elite pieces are shinier and scarcer. This listing is the black stone as cut — matte or bright.
